How many of you think Apple is all over the place with no clear goal in mind? I mean 1. Their recent Airpods 2 comes with no significant update and is already facing criticism 2. So is the charge of 50% of ad revenue on Apple news 3. They started Project Titan out of no where. 4. Now the gaming industry 5. And the apple card (It does seem like a strategic move to complete the ecosystem and also promote Apple Maps) 6. They gave absolutely no information about Apple TV+ neatly concealing by asking Oprah to talk. 7. iPhone XS sale wasn't as expected with not a lot of people looking forward to the product like the old days. You could argue over many of these points but I'm more interested in the general direction of the company
How's this different from Amazon? I agree the announcements may be premature but it's for the better.
Maybe a separate post?
It’s doing what it should be doing, just a little late to everything except phone.
They started a project “out of nowhere” - LOL. Did they forget to get your personal sign off?
How many updates does S3 get in one year? How many updates does Google Maps get? What is wrong with incremental improvements? They are safe and good ways to bring in more money for any company. I think Apple is doing a great job with integrating in their ecosystem and making it stronger. Now that they have the major pieces it is time them to tie up the loose ends and launch theme. This will go on for a few years and allow some big projects to be worked on in the background that are going to take several years (titan etc.). They are reducing efforts on titan because it’s not marketable today
This can be said about every damn tech company. There is hardly any innovation happening just tech/app/ refresh/update
1. Criticism from whom? It’s facing universal acceptance, if not acclaim 2. Makes sense for a service oriented company 3. Not really nowhere - it was a natural extension for CarPlay since when it was started, barely any manufacturers were implementing it 4. It’s like a Humble Bundle subscription - it’s not going to upend the industry but it is going to prop up the paid game market 5. Apple Card is also not a revolution but it is a good starter card which will hook Gen Z and super young millennials 6. I will agree with you that this should’ve been announced closer to launch 7. Do you mean numbers? There’s no manufacturer who’s doing well on numbers and profits - at least Apple is crushing the latter. Phones have reached the end of the growth cycle - Apple is trying to move to services to mitigate that
Engineers don’t understand business. Do you know that Apple gets over 10 Billion $ a quarter in services? Dude Microsoft’s entire Intelligent Cloud brings in less revenue than that per quarter. And look at the hype around Azure! And all of this with what Apple considers as entry level in services. Imagine how much revenue the company could rake in with news subscriptions, video streaming and gaming subscriptions. Apple is basically trying to improve the entire ecosystem by making small changes that make iOS much more streamlined than Android. It’s not always about the ingenuity of the services, sometimes you gotta think about money, ecosystem and expanding into territories that are a natural fit to your product line.
I have to say I am a little disappointed with the AirPods 2. It hurts me to say it, the AirPod clones (i10 TWS/ i12 TWS, etc) out there beat us up with more colors and functions and 1/4 of the price. We gotta do better.
For some reason, Apple is held to a different standard than everyone else. Everyone else does a shitty job of copying us and they’re praised. We lead the way and are criticized. These endless posts about the apocalypse of Apple are boring. Look at our market cap to expose what people think about the state and future of the company.
What would you do if you were CEO of Apple
Resurrect Steve Jobs
Resign. Retire. Anything but not make Apple a mere shadow of what it was a few years ago
