I might be too quick to judge and wrong, but felt Apple campus is way too intense. Is it always like that? They told me people there are not very friendly and are not really friends with their colleagues... Is it so? Can Apple folks enlighten P.S Cupertino old campus in question
My org has lunch with each other nearly everyday
Totally team dependent; I go out for lunch with members of my current or previous team everyday. I hang out with colleagues who live in SF roughly once a month. Hard to generalize i suppose!
Your colleagues who live in SF also work for Apple in SF or WFH?
They come to work at Cupertino using the Apple shuttle. WFH once in a while is ok but that’s not the norm.
In other words, there is no company culture, there only are segmented team culture(s). The donut’s purpose probably is to address that. Its shape symbolizes unification after all.
In my experience most people at Apple are quite friendly.
No one will talk you about anything. You will get hi’s and head nods. No one talks about anything meaningful because we’re all too afraid of hurting peoples feelings and being fired.
Pretty much
Definitely a generalization. I worked at Microsoft for a decade and I’m pushing half a decade at Apple. My team at Microsoft was really anti social, they only wanted to talk about code and usually closed their office doors as soon as they got in. At my current organization, most the people around me act and treat me like a human being and we’re open enough that we offend each other... it sounds weird to say it but it is sort of like a family.
We all have to talk shit to one another ❤️

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Again, it’s team-dependent. Some are a bit more cold out of reticence to socialize and drop information. Our team (ID) doesn’t do lunches with others aside from spouses.
Why not? Must suck to be alone all the time.
