100? Or 100s of? News says 100.
From the original post: "According to people with direct knowledge, the iPhone maker over the past few days has started to cut ties with hundreds of contractors"
Let the hunger games begin
It was so weird. People praised Apple and Tim Cook for not having layoffs the same week as Google. Like they somehow wouldn’t have them later?? This is step 1.
Still not layoff, contractors are meant to be short term. They know what they are getting into.
I know, the real layoffs will be later.
Gotta say it’s a real dick move to cancel a contract BEFORE it’s expiration date. They can’t afford to wait a couple months? What’s even the point of taking a job-insecure contract with Apple if they can’t guarantee you’ll actually stay for the duration of the contract, performance problems excluded?
The point is…so they can announce FTE layoffs.
The reason to hire any contractor is to have the flexibility. otherwise why would any company willing to pay more for a contractor?
It’s just good time to layoff. That’s all
Next is 5% layoff
Maybe 10 or 11 !
Contractors are contingent workers anyways. Layoff word is overrated here
Not a good sign, but 100 contractors is not a trend. They also don't count as layoffs because contractors are not head count.
