I was recently given a verbal offer for a Hardware position at Apple. The recruiter asked me to provide an estimate for the number I am looking for. He said he can provide the ICT range. Any tips on how to negotiate. Yoe: Bs + 5yr #hardware
Whats the offer?
No offer yet. Just got told they will be making one
With apple it is almost impossible to negotiate except if you have a competing offer from faang. Recruiter will come back to you saying that the offer is final.
What kind of hw role is this?
I would recommend giving a number that will make you happy and one that you will sign the offer. Apple is lowballing when you do not give a number and then come back with a slightly better offer and say that its final. Also, it will probably be ICT3 unless your interview was really great.
Doubt they’ll give him or her more because he gave his idea number. He might give high ICT3 but be considered for ICT4 and shoot himself in the foot

Which location..? TC also depends on the location..
Cupertino
This is such BS, you know. They need to offer a standard package based on a person's skills, YOE and location. I don't understand how companies don't get into legal trouble for paying two people vastly different salaries for the same skills etc. "Someone was able to negotiate it" is not a good enough reason for a much bigger package. Salary negotiations are starting to feel more and more like buying a used car at a dealership these days.

F that.
I was low-balled and my pay was adjusted to market rate last year. Few pointers... - tell a number after they provide one - check levels.fyi and refer to it as well if they are lowballing you - have a counter offer - don't disclose the unvested RSU in your current place as well - don't agree to anything until you have an offer letter sent to you
Thanks for the pointers. I don't follow the last point. What do you mean by don't agree to anything without offer letter? Are you saying we shouldn't verbally agree to the offer?
Recruiter might say, I need to check if the increase gets approved. If it doesn't work, are you agreeing to the current offer ? Don't agree to this. Ask for the offer letter and tell them you wanna decide based on that
Mid or Low ICT3 Right now Master with 5 years experience are either high ICT3 or low ICT4
Yeah, don’t give a number
Is it okay to convey our ICT level expectations?
Of course. No guarantees you’ll get it. Your best bet is to look at the compensation and compare it with levels.fyi to see what level it likely is. It it’s hourly, then it’s ICT2
