Hi, I got the following number for analog HW engineer. Base: 160k Sign-on: 30k RSU: 100k for 4 years YOE: phd + 3.5 years Current TC: 200k (158k + 30k + 12k) The HR said she can't give the information about my ICT level now. What would my ICT level be? And do you think it is worth switching my job with this number? If I join Apple, what will my TC be with refresher? Thank you. #hardware #apple #offer
Not worth switching to a low ball offer. Sometimes interview does not go as expected and we end up in this situation. If you go to apple with low offer you will always stay behind on comp. I hate that as it happened to me at Intel. Would not recommend anyone doing this mistake
How is this lowball if it’s better than their current offer. If this person doesn’t having competing or anything else why should Apple offer something more
It all depends on interview. Not need counter offer to get higher than this numbers. Intel salary level to apple has to be at least 30% or more higher considering the work life balance. And premium apple carries.
Also what you can do it leverage this offer to get intel manager adjust your stock grants
You know that’s the worst idea. Never ever do this.
Please explain more. I have not done it but makes some sense to me. The apple offer is definitely sub par even with intel standards. Now a days Intel matches comp hard due to attrition.
What kind of hardware engineer position?
It's analog SOC engineer in SEG.
Good base. rsu’s can go high, it’s very hard to negotiate unless you have a competing offer. If you are confident that you can crack the interview in the coming years, decline it or else take it. Apple will most likely blacklist people if you fail the interview, especially in hardware division SEG
Are you grade 7 at Intel?
Yes, grade 7.
Wow.. you have a good pay at intel with grade 7.
What level are you at Intel ? GRADE 7?
Yes, grade 7.
This is 100% ICT3 standard package for people with at least 3YOE. You should keep in mind that it is almost certainly too late to get refreshers or annual bonus this year. If you join you won't be getting anything else until Oct. 2021.
Amazing offer.
Grade 7 but with Grade 8 TC. Sounds like ready for a promotion.
In my opinion , you have to look at bigger picture. Even though in short term you see the offer is not at par, do you see potential and see yourself growing in new role? I can tell you, Apple is definitely high tier company, and people do excel there. So my suggestion - see this as an investment, not just a short term gain. You can DM me if you need to chat.
Totally agree with you. Too many people make their decision based on their initial offer and don't see the bigger picture. If you stay at Apple for a few years the refreshers more than make up the initial offer especially when compared to Intel's compensation.
Afaik refreshers in hardware are much lower than software and software refreshers don’t match fb, G
High ict3 - low ict4? This is purely a guess.
