Apple phone interview

An Apple recruiter contacted me about a UX role. I’m speaking with a hiring manager this week. Advice? If all goes well would I get an onsite next?

I had a HM call with Apple and it was very very basic. I think it depends on the team but it was basically behavioral questions “tell me about a time when...” etc. I don’t think he even had me walk me through a piece on my portfolio (though other hiring managers at other places did). Your HM might have specific questions about certain pieces in your portfolio. A lot of it was HM talking about his team. Passed and luckily they went pretty fast. They got back to me within 1 business day. Yes onsite is next but mine required you to do a design challenge that you present at the onsite. I haven’t gone to the onsite yet (next week) so can’t say much about further process. So advice is to know your portfolio like the back of your hand, find and answer some basic ux behavioral questions, and be ready to walk through one piece in your portfolio via the phone (IMO harder than a video presentation like other companies).

My phone screening went well and I’m to set up the onsite soon. You were right, very fast, next day! Have you done your onsite yet?

I had my onsite yesterday and I felt it went well. I got positive feedback on my work but I’m not feeling particularly confident about getting an offer because the work shown was maybe not what they were looking for. Then today 2 recruiters contacted me for contract positions at Apple? Should I entertain these? Do I tell them I just had an on-site directly with the company? Would being submitted for a contract role hurt my chances for the FTE offer?

Did you get an offer for the FTE at the end?

I didn’t. Bummer
