Apple vs Cruise Offer
Base / Stock (4 yrs) / Sign-On / Annual Bonus Apple: 215k / 300k / 100k / ~10% (TC ~340k) Cruise: 220k / 230k / 40k / 65k (TC ~350k) Suggestions? Both ML/AI-related positions. Still negotiating, but not sure how much higher I can go (Cruise already went up by ~120k). Also, Cruise RSU not liquid... PhD + 2 YOE Thanks!

Thanks a lot :-)! Yes, my PhD was in ML/AI - I'm kinda glad I chose it now... I'm leaning towards Apple as well - the team there seems fantastic :-) Now, without sounding too greedy, do you think there is more room for negotiation, or should I just leave it be? I don't really want to alienate my future manager ...

215K base looks like higher end of ICT5 Even ppl with 20 years work ex don’t have that base

My colleague just joined as an ict4 and he was offered 215 base..nothing special and nowhere close to an ic5s base..
Didn't expect Apple's offer to be this competitive to Cruise.
I guess Cruise's offer probably incentivized Apple to move up a bit :-)
Which position at Cruise & Apple? Can you share your experience interviewing at both companies for ML/CV? It would help me a lot as I am interviewing for similar roles with similar bg.

Did you ask Cruise about refreshers? Apple has good refreshers. Personally I would choose Apple if I want more money, and I would choose Cruise if I want to work on interesting problem statements. Try to find out more about refreshers, what you’ll be working on, talk to team members at both companies to get an understanding of how they are enjoying their work. For an instance, when I interviewed at Apple, my lunch interviewer was a bit sad that he had to work during weekends. So I didn’t find it good. Anyway, you could get insights like those by talking to team members and also from folks here on blind that work at those two companies.
Thanks for getting back. Cruise was very vague about refreshers ("depends on performance"), but Apple mentioned ~150k/yrs in general. Regarding positions, Apple was very vague, but i felt the people were more enthusiastic and really good. But will try to reach out to both and friends to see what their WLB is at Apple and Cruise. Thx!
They’re vague bc they don’t really have em. They give you 2 year cliffed grant two years in just so that your tc doesn’t drop after 4 years but that’s about it (at least that was the case until recently)
