Ignoring the obvious logistical hurdles they'd need to jump over to make such a thing happen, imagine if Daddy Elon was right all along when he said "Funding Secured".
If Apple buys Tesla, then I will REALLY be concerned about the future of Apple. They’ve made a lot of dumb decisions lately.
How many dongles would I need to charge my Apple car at a public charge station?
If we bought Tesla, you wouldn't need a single one.
Nobody believes you. The first thing you guys would do is create a new charger with propietary connectors so you can charge out the ass for the dongles. You work in Strategy--how do you not know this?
Tesla Uber tie up or strategic partnership makes way more sense.
I think it might be a good move for Apple assuming they don’t increase prices without adding sufficient value. They badly need to diversify into an industry with minimal dependency on China and high potential for future. Building their own auto vertical will take 7-8 years and might be too late.
EXACTLY. It's just not going to happen. We need to acquire a project that's already far along, and Tesla already makes the safest cars on the market, which is a huge focus for Apple.
Tesla’s creativity will die if Apple takes over. Gone are the days with Jobs leading the innovation powerhouse. Haven’t seen a single radical innovation which Apple has come up with since the iPhone. Air pods are the only grace savers, otherwise Mr Cook has been screwing over AMD for bottom line and overcharging customers (device auxiliaries, services) for maintaining profitability. This model is sustainable to keep Apple in business for a long time but not good enough to make Apple the most innovative company in the world which it used to be.
Elon will never sell.
Sell and make Elon CEO ;) ?
Good lord. Can you imagine Teslas being even more difficult to repair 😬
Apple would never buy Tesla. No decent IP. They’ve lost most of their talent. Atrocious balance sheet after years of mismanagement. Exploding vehicles, etc
1. Tesla patents are public. Not good for apple 2. They’d rather hire a few key people from Tesla directly ($$$) and build a new team around them to create their own version of an electric car. Like they did for computers, phones, tablets, watches, etc
2. is almost impossible. Building electric cars and softwares aren't same.
Elon Musk didn’t build an electric car. He purchased an existing company called Tesla. That’s why if you hire the right key folks, you can build anything. Also, Apple is a hardware company at core. They probably have the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the world. They know how to build stuff :) oh... yeah, they also build software.
