Hi friends, I wonder what the working culture is like in Apple’s SEG team? Basically that’s the hardware division doing circuit implementations. HR says they’re likely to have people keep doing what they’re good at doing. It’s not like in someplaces that people get exposed to many variety of things but may not be good at doing. Can anybody elaborate from your experiences at Apple? What do you think about your personal growth in such an environment ? thanks im_nobody
SEG is notorious for being inflexible when it comes to changing teams. I also get the impression that management doesn't care about employee career development
Are you in SEG? Why do you say that it is inflexible? Will they block transfers?
SEG is a sweatshop with below industry average pay. You are better off elsewhere.
How is sandisk
WD pay is ok. Bonuses and RSUs have been volatile. If max comp is what you want then better off elsewhere. The benefit though is that wlb matches the comp as opposed to Apple SEG.
I heard WLB is very bad, almost no life
If you are a top performer and can take the terrible wlb, the comp is best for HW.
Were you at seg? Are u in Microsofts hw team now? If yes, how is it
I was not, but have a few friends who are/were in SEG - the term "slave drivers" was used fairly often. MS HW team is fairly good. I only started 9 months ago so still relatively new, but comp is good and wlb is definitely reasonable. Only downsides are somewhat lack of organization/engineering best practices and bad refreshers compared to other places like Apple/FB/G/Broadcom.
Don’t go for Apple at all, I heard there will be layoffs soon in Apple
Why?
Yes, Intel guy knows all. 🙄
