Applied Materials- nothing but bare truth

there is a lot of info about IT company in Blind but not so much about equipment hardware company like amat. so here it is: the company has these divisions- MDP, FEP, DSM, CMP, APTD, DDP, AGS and CTO group. MDP, CMP, FEP are stagnant divisions where you would just keep doing what you do for next 6-7 years.. for process engineer, you are like a glorified technician or a lab rat running wafers night/day and weekends. All you will get is thank you emails but no promtions. there is rarely any promtion unless you are a super favorite of your manager. Nepotism is given to tambram or native asian for promotions. for others they are made to take a test!!! which has 30% weightage!! even if promoted after years from E3 to E4, you get a 6-8% raise which is nothing compared to inflation of rents in bay area and cost of living. DDP/DSM: highest attrition rate.. dont even think to come here as NCG unless you are joining this company for immigration reasons. I feel sorry for Indians as they dont have any hope of getting their immigration for next 10 years atleast. in that case, look for any positions which does not entail you to go to a lab.. you may be able to survive then.. APTD/CTO: get ready to prepare weekly updates for GM in addition to doing all your regular work..

Isn’t director high up management? I’m a optics hardware guy and I make 170k with 3 YOE and PhD at L3. So 200 seems low. I know L4 engineer at my company make about 200k.
