Interested positions: - Marketing Coordinator - Tour Manager - Communications Specialist - Associate Production Manager - Social Media Strategist YOE: - Currently completing 3rd internship (marketing and communications) - BA in Film + Post-Bacc Certificate - Launched multi-part events as a college student. Responsiblities resembled that of a Conference Leader and Producer. (Resume reflects live events experience.)
40-55k is the industry average for the positions you listed. In cities with cheaper col or smaller firms, it's lower.
Definitely going to depend on location. If it’s Bay Area/NYC/LA, shoot for 55k (they’ll offer lower). If it’s any other city, your probably looking in the 40-45 range
Got my first marketing specialist spot out of school at a big company in LA for 56k. It'll very much depend on the company, the position, and the location.
You're looking at $40ish most likely
Ask for at least 60K FTE or $40/hr w2 as a contractor. These companies have the money—you just have to ask for it.
How much were you paid for your most recent internship?
$15/hour
And that's like $30k. You'll get a jump but at this stage in your life be strategic. If you made $15/hr work don't only go for the money. Find a good place, a solid name, leadership that your admire and stay there for 2 years. This will be good for your advancement. Plus depending on the state they can't ask you how much you made at a previous role so you can "let it slip" when interviewing in the future that you started somewhere $5-10k more than you actually did and then were promoted and that now you're looking for something like x. "Disclose" more than you should as a humble brag as part of the negotiation. Don't swing the starting rate too much since they won't believe it.
