Applying for schengen visa for the netherlands (non US citizen)

The embassy in seattle doesnt do visas. Do i really have to travel to SF to apply for a visa? I.e. does it have to be in person or is there another way? Thanks

You don't have to go to SF if you've had Schengen visa issued in the past 5 years. I did this. EDIT: changed to years
