I saw a few job postings on the Google Careers website that I really like. Problem is that the location for these jobs is in USA but I live/work in India and don't have an H1B1 Visa.. Would it be futile for me to apply for these roles? Has anyone ever applied across countries for Google before?
Why don’t you apply anyway?
I really doubt that’s work out. (But I don’t have any data to support my doubt, so YMMV) A better approach would be to: Join google India and then transfer Or Move to US as a student in Bay Area, apply to google. If they can do h1 before you complete then you are lucky. Sadly, no company would wait to file h1 in April, and then wait till October 1 for employee to start.
They will sponsor you if you get offer, but I imagine that it’s very hard to get an offer as an international transplant for an already super competitive position. Probably better chances to transfer from Google India.
Sorry to say this to you but they won't call you for US positions if you don't have the work permits. Easiest way is to simply apply at Google India and get in. Once you are in, you can switch to anywhwre you want to after sometime.
They can attempt to sponsor you if you get the offer..
Do you know anyone who's been sponsored by Google?
I have multiple friends who have been sponsored; yes
