I joined intel, Az satrting this year at 6 grade. Any insight on a appraisal? In general, how is the ... % hike in base salary RSU APB
% hike - lol. It’s going to be less than inflation.
So no increment in base salary at all...😞 What about RSUs. I was told by hr, intel gives RSU only at appraisal time.
Yes, it’s only like $8k RSU for G6, and a 2.5% typical raise for successful. APB target is a fixed 1% of base; only from G7 can APB go higher.
TC or GTFO
I am new to Blind. Thanks for clarifying. My TC is exact 100K + Intel’s QB and AB, no RSUs. I am having 10 years of industry experience ( 9 years India + 1 years internship during Masters). I am neither happy with type of work nor happy with the compensation. I am not sure this TC in Az, justifies my experience.
With that kind of industry experience, forget asking for hike, ask for grade 7. That is the ONLY way you are going to get a decent bump. Another option, ask to move to bay area (a different team if needed), and have a long term plan to jump different companies. Intel pay is 🥜's indeed.
Yes with 10years of experience, you should be grade 7 at least. If all years is relevant and you have already started contributing in your role, you should push for that
Intel has replaced “focal” with “insights” this year. Until last year all grade 6 got fixed $7,500 worth of RSUs or nothing (if you are too bad) because of the fixed stock level grants during focal. Starting this year stock level grants are gone, but I don’t expect anything to change, so you would still get ~7,500 worth of RSUs. Also for grade 5&6 your APB target is fixed which is 1.01% of your base salary. So the only way you would make “substantially” more money is by getting to grade 7 and above
I completely agree. I was having chance to do hard negotiation. I wish I may know about BLIND earlier. Now it’s just not appropriate to ask manager about TC and Grade that too with in a year. What say? Is it fine to switch internally for higher grade? Is it happen at intel? Do I need to inform my manager before applying internally? Do I need my manager approval for internal switch.
Whats typical comp at gr8? How hard gr8 -> gr9 conversion?
Since you just joined, TC ship has most likely sailed. You had the ball in your court to negotiate a higher starting salary. I know grade 5 RCGs in my group have joined with ~5k less base, but RSUs, so money was probably left on the table. As for workload, talk to your manager. I'm sure she can help find work that would be more challenging and rewarding.
Lol lowballed ...
This is nothing surprising. Unless you have a shining resume, i.e. worked at some prestigious companies, Intel will lowball you hard. But if you do have a shining resume, you would not join Intel in the first place...
