If I would like to leave Adobe immediately after my AIP is paid out (at the end of January I think), when is the appropriate time to give my manager notice? I want to be fair to my team and give them as much time to plan for my replacement as possible and help them transition, but also don't want to put myself in a position where my AIP for performance to date is potentially jeopardized. Ideally my last day at the company would be February 1 - I have another job offer waiting for me at that time and don't want to risk losing it. What do you think I should do?
Tell your boss now.
Explain
Are you kidding. He will be fired on the spot and lose all the options
You have to be ready to have the day you give your notice be your last day. You never know how resigning will turn out. So don’t give notice too far in advance
I also suspect that they will ask me to stay longer than the traditional 2 weeks and I'll look like a jerk when I can't...
That is a risk you have to balance against the equal likelihood they will ask you to leave early. Take care of your needs first, then the company's second.
Nah they know two weeks is standard. They can ask. But you don’t have to comply. And then demanding it is wrong. Just like you giving your notice and dipping out the next day is wrong. There is a common ground of decency that both parties should adhere too
Give the standard 2-week notice or even less depending on your relationship with your boss. Learned it the hard way
Read your offer letter. Do the needful.
After youvest
Two weeks is standard. Be very careful about giving more notice than that because they might just tell you to walk.
Why do u want to leave a company like adobe?
It's a great company but a better opportunity that I can't pass up opened for me elsewhere
Absolutely not before 2 weeks, and not before your payout. Why? 1. They might tell you to walk. You don't think they'd do that, but nobody ever expects it. In all likelihood, they won't. But you never know. I've seen people get surprised by management's reaction. Is that a risk you're ready to take? 2. The moment you tell them you're leaving, they'll see you as the outsider. The longer you're in this phase, the more torturous it'll be. 3. They will be just fine without you, and will operate just as smoothly in your absence, so you're not doing them any injustice or leaving them in a lurch. You'll be amazed at how replaceable and non-essential you are for the team.
My manager casually mentioned that he might quit in a few months to someone else at the company, that person told the CEO and he was fired later that day. It was crazy.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
Safest choice is to give 2-week notice on 1/31. Two weeks before 1/31 is also fine but a little bit risky. Don’t do anything before that
