Is it just me or does it seem like these 1-2 years masters programs at extension school are useless? My coworkers who matriculated from these programs seem no better off, career-wise or skills-wise.

Degree itself does not add a value. What’s important is how good you are at what you work on. Irrelevant degree adds no values.

Depends. To willingly sacrifice 5 years of your life you have to be really interested in the topic. If it's the case - go for it

Sometimes getting the interview itself is challenging. With or without degree you got to show your skills to get the job.
