Are masters degrees useless?

Is it just me or does it seem like these 1-2 years masters programs at extension school are useless? My coworkers who matriculated from these programs seem no better off, career-wise or skills-wise.

It just helps you get ahead in terms of resume over other candidates unless you are from one of the top school

Yeah makes sense, I have seen a lot of them get interviews... toss up whether or not they pass

Sometimes getting the interview itself is challenging. With or without degree you got to show your skills to get the job.

Degree itself does not add a value. What’s important is how good you are at what you work on. Irrelevant degree adds no values.

What about PhD?

Depends. To willingly sacrifice 5 years of your life you have to be really interested in the topic. If it's the case - go for it

No they're not, they are the difference between proper engineers and people just coming out of bootcamps

Lol okay. I guess some of the most important engineers in history are just bootcamp bodies.
