It would be a game changer if exchanges with free crypto commissions would allow transfers to wallets. Short term holders probably don't mind leaving their coins online. I read in Blind how one person turned $30K into $3 million with DOGE in about two months. TC $320k. Commission free crypto trades are long overdue. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/let-the-crypto-price-wars-begin-as-robinhood-touts-commission-free-trade-vs-coinbase-rivals-11622747424
Nothing is truly free. The platforms make their money on wider bid/ask spreads
RH simply can’t do commission-free transfers to wallets rn. When you place an order, Robinhood has deals that hedge their exposure to the crypto you “own” (usually thanks to Jump in this case), but they don’t actually hold all that crypto because commission-free crypto trading isn’t really economically viable atm in terms of bid/ask spreads offsetting gas fees. Everything is off-chain. I’ve heard they’re trying to allow you to transfer out, but the reason it’s so hard for them to do so is that there’s no guarantee that they already hold the crypto you want to transfer out.
