I work at Squarepace as a software engineer, and there’s been a lot of internal turmoil and serious problems going down at Squarespace this past year. Our company room on Blind is getting kind of spicy, with people left and right voicing their concerns, intentions to leave as soon as possible, and so on. Two of the posts (in the conpany employees-only room) that have been the most damaging to Squarespace’s reptutation were removed sometime this past week. Although I found nothing abusive or offensive about those posts, I suspect they could be technically considered classified as an “invasion of privacy” because each post included the first name of a key executive (think: CTO, COO, or etc), the purpose of which was to attribute a quote said by them at the public/open global all-hands meeting. I don’t know if members of Squarespace management have accounts on Blind and decided to flag those posts to get them taken down, hidden, censored, or whatever term you would like to call it. My question is: are we allowed to mention names of executives at the company? And are we allowed to repeat quotes said by them (in a pretty open setting btw — since anyone in the employees-only room on Blind would have been invited to the all hands meeting anyway)?
What I noticed is Blind is very trigger happy with sensoring. As soon as more than one person flags something it gets removed automatically without manual review. Does is get manually reviewed later? I am not sure...it doesn't take much to get posts removed
Spill the beans, what's going on in SquareSpace?
I’m worried I’m going to get banned from Blind if I spill. :( Maybe management could report it as “disclosing company secrets”.
Lol, welcome to every company's room on Blind.
Execs of public companies are public figures. It's a gray area for private companies depending on size.
This is blind if they are attempting to censor their staff gtfo https://images.app.goo.gl/d8wD21n3HgzuDzBj8
I agree with you (+1’ed your comment), but there’s nothing we can do about it. Management and anyone else aligned with management are free to sign up for an account and attempt to take down damaging posts.
