Are we needed?

Now that covid19 had made it clear that human beings as a species are not needed on this planet and that Earth would be better off without us, why do people still choose to reproduce and why is painless death still illegal? Why do humans give birth to their children when they don't even know whether their children want to come to this planet or not? What if our children are with Jesus and by giving birth to them we are removing them from heaven? #health #wellness

Human beings are a blessing to this planet.

There has been NO OTHER OBSERVED FORM OF LIFE capable of intelligence at the scale of humans.

Ants and dolphins will never be able to compute red shifts from distant stars, never will be able to estimate the age of this universe, or understand its laws.

We have the ability, the responsibility and the burden to understand this universe. If we change the chemical composition of one planet to achieve it SO BE IT.

Planet doesn’t freaking care anyway. Carbon monoxide, dioxide, nitrogen compounds etc are all the same to rocks. And there are far more corrosive planets and far more x ray emitting stars.

But have we encountered any other intelligent being?

We can never “protect the planet”. All we can do is protect ourselves till the time we move.

@troll food, why do women subject themselves to so much pain of child birth even when they know that having a child will ruin them financially and emotionally later? Also, isn't her child better off if it is with Jesus rather than come here on Earth?

Antinatalists are so ridiculous. They would be hysterical to ridicule except that their beliefs are pure toxic human waste.

Think your life is a waste? Want to lash out at everyone else in your rage? Try to kill a few people before killing yourself? Oh look! Here's the antinatalists reinforcing your feelings of worthlessness and anger at your miserable life!

Antinatalists: I know you don't value your life. I know that you have a metric that you use to justify your feeling that all lives are net negative. If you don't think this life is worth living, get out. Please find a way that doesn't harm others. Be alone. Use a gun or a cliff or a bag of welding gas or whatever you like. Suicide by cop is deeply horrible to the cop.

Other people have very different logic about how to measure the value of life and we don't appreciate your memetic poison giving fuel to mass murderers or murder-suicides.

Your argumentative fallacy is equivocation. Using different meanings for the same word in order to construct your statement.

Is the earth fine without humans? Of course. But the claim of antinatalists is that humans are better off not existing. That humans are better off without humans. That is a moral assertion, not a fact, and untangling those two distinct meanings behind "we are not needed" reveals your claim to be an opinion, not a fact.

It also happens to be dangerous and creates a hazard to others when learned by those who already hold human life with little regard.

This is not at all dangerous nor a hazard. We were meant to drop out of this zero sum game and there is no definition of what is "humans are better off". You might say that we have more comforts and convenience and we survive better but it has all come at a cost of killing every other species. The betterment of humans as a species will always cost other species. Now that virus has spread so much, humans are being reminded that just like any other species they are not needed. If humans want to go on fighting for survival, sure please go ahead. It will come with its happiness and sadness. But since it becomes a zero sum game, the only sensible way is get out/drop out of this madness.

We are not needed, everything can effectively exist without us and we’re just a sort of unexpected feature of the Earth. We will disappear relatively soon, and the Earth will continue to exist without any issue, until the Sun comes closer to it’s end phase turning into a red dwarf, when it will start to grow and then will swallow all the planets around.
So for us there’s a very short time (relatively) to make some wars and chaos until we all die because of global warming which is inevitable.

I wish they make painless death legal. We can never guarantee birth/life to have dignity but at least a dignified/painless/drama-less death is what everyone deserves, because we didn't choose to be born. At least we must have the right to choose death.
