I recently had an interview with Argo Ai. I think the interview went really well. Based on the review I got from the recruiter I think they are going to offer. This position is in Michigan. I have 2 years of experience. My TC at my current company is 85K. We are expecting a child in another 2 months. How much can I expect from Argo? How does the work life balance looks like at Argo?
Eng 1 is like 120-150k base, eng 2 is 140-170k ish. I think that correlates to L3, L4 Work life balance is eh. Expect 10 hour days M-F + every other weekend or so. Though it depends on your team. I personally wouldn't go to Argo if you're about to have a kid- it'll destroy you
Are they going to pay that high for 2 years experience person and that too in Michigan? I hope my wife can take care of the kid. I think they have paternity leave which I can use. I really need a bump in my pay to maintain my family.
yes they pay very well. You will need to work very hard and contribute. Expectations are high.
What was your interview like? Technical?
for senior 1 design, 2 codding, 1 manager (hr)
1 hr interview and 3 technical. In technical they asked me on my previous experience, my projects in resume and mostly scenarios - like if situation X happens how would you test and prevent it? For a situation Y, how would you write the requirements. There was no coding.
Take the job, sounds like you’ll regret not moving from your current company if it’s getting stale like you’re describing.
Im at ford making 145k im detroit. 11 yoe. ARGO recruiter reached out with TPM position. He mentioned TC would be between 170 to 230k. Not sure what level was it. Argo is a good company. However, with a kid, ill prefer to stay at Ford and make a little less TC. Maybe later in couple of years I will apply to Argo when my kid turns a bit older.
145k in Detroit is like 600k in the bay. And you don’t have to deal with racist CA Democrats. I’d stay at Ford.
Haha... Well Argo recruiter approached for a position in Detroit
Argo fck yourself. Just kidding, good luck! 😃
I was gonna comment this 😏 great minds eh? (Good movie too)
Woulda been cooler if it was Agar.io
2x your current TC if stock price doesnt count
110k +
Do consider that Michigan is a miserable shithole with a horrible economy and some of the most unfriendly people you'll ever meet. I know, I grew up there. If you were single, I'd be even more adamant you not move there, as the women in particular tend to be extremely unpleasant.
I live in Northville MI, moved from carolina 5 years ago. I feel MI is pretty good. Please dont make personal experience a general perception.
Fair enough, I'll refrain from generalizing, but I won't pretend my experience there was good. And I spent 5 times the number of years there that you have, living in more places than just Northville. So my opinion of the place, while perhaps not generalizable, is well informed. I say stay away; I left as soon as I could and never looked back.
HW, SW, G&A?
Software integration and testing.
Between the salary and the yearly bonus I’d be surprised if liquid TC wasn’t matched. It’s hard to guess more without knowing level and job ladder. WLB is variable, but I’d be conservative if it’s something that’s important to you (unless you get some seriously good indications it’ll be what you’re hoping for).
