A biotech startup company that IPO'd based in Newport Beach, CA. Would be a director, but no one would have heard of this company. But higher potential for this stock to grow because the product is based on FDA approval, which I (insider) know will pass. Work on the beach. Sunny all the time. Traffic everywhere. No other tech companies around if this doesn't work out... $225k base 25% bonus $100k yearly stock TC: $380k ------OR-------- Microsoft in Redmond, WA. Principal Manager on some cool impactful projects with emerging tech. Work remotely one day a week. Very tech savvy senior team. Gloomy weather 3-4 months a year. Free drinks. 401k matching. ESPP discounts. Stay Fit. Connector bus. Lots of tech companies around if Microsoft doesn't work out. $200k base 40% bonus $40k yearly stock TC: $320k
Correction: gloomy weather 6-7 months/year. Btw. How come you already have "Microsoft" title? Are you boomeranging?
Change that to 6-8 months of gloomy weather year lol
I would pick Microsoft because I’m weird and prefer gloomy weather most of the time. Also traffic in Seattle sucks too FYI.
Wait how is being a girl relevant here? Is bc u have kids?
Biotech vs. Pure tech. Seattle is guy heavy CA is more normal
Seattle is 50% women, which is the same as California. Unless you meant “guy heavy” as in too much obese men.
Pick southern CA! You can always go back to a big company if it doesn’t work out. And TC / all else is better. Get apartment close to job / beach to limit traffic exposure.
There's actually a lot of tech companies in LA, In DT or Santa Monica (Hulu, Fair, Edmunds). And looks like you aren't worried about joining a start up, so go to LA.
LA is really far from Orange county area...
SF is even further.
Change that to 8-9 months of gloomy weather and even gloomier people
I can’t offer any gender-specific advice, but based on what you’ve described, the SoCal offer sounds more appealing to me. Better weather, beautiful area, potentially more impact working at a startup vs an established tech giant.
