There isn't a need for machine learning or AI of any sort. They gave me a promotion from underwriter to "Data and Systems Administrator" because I learned Data Science in my personal time and showed I can do more. It's hard for me to make them realize there are reports that can help them realize who is screwing them. There are is basically no reporting structure in this sales company. The data is a mess and handling edge cases is a daily occurrence. So I asked for 120k as that's what I think Data Scientists start at, and they were somewhat open to it, but I'm realizing that even if I get it, I would want to leave anyways. I'm having a hard time finding a job, so I'm waiting to take Triplebyte's technical interview. Any advice for me? They declined my ask fully and said they can get cheap developers from Ukraine for that same price. Said once I learn more about QA we'll talk in May. Feeling dejected by all of the job rejections and the denial of raise.
Ask for a title change too, leave in a year. Sys admin is not a data science job title. You'll find getting interviews much harder without experience that looks relevant at only a glance. And work some modeling into the job. Data cleanup is vital and +1000 to you for understanding that, but doing it for the sake of reporting pays a lot less
I agree. Sys Admin is just not a correct title especially since they want me to do some QA as well. I've added some Data Viz into everything so I can show them more easily what's going on, but the problem is that since the data is a mess, reports are always inaccurate.
Data scientists start at double that.
Some Data Scientists, but definitely no entry level

Take the increased salary and collect that while you study up.
Thank you for your response. It's hard studying with no code reviews and no Senior for me to learn from.
I feel your pain man. I’m in the same situation as you.
