7 yoe TC 102k female Currently, I work as a full stack engineer on a small team of developers. I started at this company as a Linux server engineer but transitioned to a development team this year (no raise with transfer to new team) where I am building software. I have developed some software which is saving our company ~2mil annually. I’m still maintaining this code, writing tests etc and I am the only dev on my project. Another team member whose sole job was to maintain the infrastructure for our software (for 2 dev teams) in AWS has left the company. Because of my extensive experience in this area, I am being given this task and another to maintain a VXRack environment. Not sure how to ask for a raise. Any advice is appreciated.
Not to sound misogynistic or inappropriate, and I hope I don’t come off that way, but if you don’t feel like you are getting support from your leadership or you don’t feel they will give you a raise then you should leave for another company. With all the diversity and inclusion stuff going on nowadays I truly think Women engineers are very highly valued.
You’re at GE and you want a raise??? You guys are damn near bankrupt. You should be looking for another job.
Location?
Is leaving out of the question?
Yeah which city?
GE will not give you much raises. Check out Pratt & Whitney, my coworker got 40% paybump
Flagged.
Use this time w Ge as a paid job search. Work less, search for job more. Leave ASAP. Be open to remote work. Ohio is not the center of the tech world. Know your worth. You are worth it. A person who knows tech and happens to be a woman. You have a lot of value. Your next job and for 130 base minimum.
Don't ask for rsise, leetcode and leave.
Have you thought about getting a better offer. Then either asking your employer to beat it, or maybe take that new offer
