Anyone here who moved outside USA (non citizen and non PR) ? Like india or singapore ? Things i want to know : How are you managing 401k money? For DRIP and capital gains, how did you file 1099-DIV ? what about state tax ? when not physically here ? Which agent allow you mange asset vanguard, fidelity, schwab ? - For Non IRA account, who will withhold tax on capital gain and fixed income assets ? Things I know : - Mutual funds (no new investments are allowed) are blocked for american expats per FATCA regulations and DRIP is allowed on existing asset unrealized gain. - managed advisory is blocked only self directed account are allowed internationally - Merill Edge directly ask you to close account for expats - vanguard customer support suck - fidelity is fine in most the cases still could not answer all questions properly Reason for my move - personal and family Anybody have done this ? Whats your plan ? TC -490k

Interested. Didn't know that you cannot invest in MutFunds while being an expat. @op are you taking up a different job in India/overseas? Or transferring? Where are you moving to? If I may ask
Got an offer cant disclose here but pretty top tier executive role in FANG. Reason for moving is, my parents alone in home country I am outside for last 12-13 years and I might end up doing something else eventually leaving this business of software world. GC is forever pain. Financially I can do decent anywhere by far with my assets. And if I continue to be disciplined I am sure world can be an oyster. No more into TC with uncertainty but more in holistic picture of everything and parents need me. Location : Hyderabad or Singapore ( Bangalore last option)
Good to know. All the best with your new role. You couldn't get GC inspite of having been here more than a decade?
