What would it take for you (minimum) to take a risk?

Somebody who earns say 300k vs 400k.
Increase of 30k is going to increase the salary for both by same amount, but percentages are different.
Does it make sense to think in terms of percentages?
Likewise $10 off on a $50 item vs $500 item brings same benefit, it’s just human mind who thinks in percentages when it shouldn’t.
In terms of salary, if your salary increases by some percentage, you can increase your expenditure by the same percentage and maintain a fixed saving rate. There by overall standard of living is better.
