For me it is around 800k. I don’t know why, but that tc sounds like good enough for most of my needs.
But, I’d rather take a 600k TC than a toxic 700k one. I learned first hand from working at Amazon, that toxic workplaces (just like relationships) have negative impacts even after you leave them.
After I left amzn, the overall negativity, still affected me the next job I went. (Ie I felt like I had to keep my guard up, even when not warranted).
I took few years to start becoming chill again.
If you have a good/chill work with good wlb, don’t jump away just for 5%-10% raise. Be deliberate and not rushed.
I’m over $500K and am struggling to be motivated by money alone to go any higher in TC.
Instead, I’m finding motivation in other aspects, which may in turn bring higher TC. But the money alone isn’t burning a bright enough fire to get me to switch jobs or climb.
Want to get above 300 and then will stop hustling so much to go higher. Will work hard and work toward promos / new gigs of course but will generally let it happen a bit more naturally without sacrificing other things as much

I am interviewing now for Staff /l6/l7 positions at the larger cos. as they pay real money and TC is important until I replenish my savings.
I had to turn down a couple of interesting startup positions because of it.
Hope that makes sense.
