Atlanta - New Grad Software Engineer Salary

Jul 6, 2018 23 Comments

I have done internships at two top well-known companies in the Bay Area. I’m graduating next year and researching my options. The typical compensation in the Bay Area companies for New Grad is pretty easy to find.

How about Atlanta? How much do tech companies (Square, Mailchimp...) in Atlanta pay? I just want the exact numbers instead of looking at Glassdoor range.

Use http://h1bdata.info/ H1B data provides quite reliable base salary information for not too senior employee. Glassdoor grabs H1b data too (so that there is some data to attract more people to contribute)

Sure, you can look at that website, but remember that h1b wages are generally suppressed because of so many h1b people in the market.

Also, companies sometimes pay h1b a little less because of the immigration cost overhead of the h1b person, especially is that person has a family and they all want a greencard.

MC is standardizing pay bands (still not sure how I feel about this) so it doesn't really matter, you'll get paid the same across the board for technical roles pretty much.

Didn't think about it but that may make sense if he's out remote in CA.

Also it doesn’t make sense to get a junior working remote and pay him more lol. There are more juniors than seniors for sure

That really seems off, most seniors are approaching 100k or cresting that here.
