Atlanta move

I may be moving to Atlanta next year. I don't use Facebook. What is best way to find roommates? For housing I have been looking at hotpads etc. Work is going to be in midtown atl mostly. Any recommendations where to live. Every apartment review shows decent about of crime. What about taking MARTA? TC:97K #roommate #atl #rent #relocation #moving

Zillow for roommate?

Zillow for finding one bedrooms in shared houses possibly ( they have rent feature )

Decent amount of crime doesn't necessarily mean dangerous. Depends on what you're looking at. An area where there are opportunistic car thieves for instance i.e. people who check for unlocked doors or areas that have a lot of simple assaults because there's a bar nearby and all the plastered kids do stupid crap is very different than an area with multiple shootings a week.

Consider living alone?

Atlanta rent is pretty high like around 1.8K for 1 bedroom but I may end up doing that

Studio is cheaper

Why don't you use Facebook just for the purpose ?

I have no profile picture or history for 5 years. Idk how many people would respond

They will, not an issue

MARTA is a joke if you’re coming from another city with actual decent public transport

New

I did notice that. I thought of using just for commute but saw some safety concerns

SAP RzDl47 Dec 28, 2021

MARTA is fine. Don't worry about safety

Why the hell everyone coming to Atl

Microsoft abehjaa Dec 19, 2021

I know right. Microsoft is hiring like 200 people in a single hiring event for atlanta.

Check the careers site. There are like 4000 open positions in Atlanta

I wanted to do 1.5K but rent is way too high

Microsoft trips@wrk Dec 19, 2021

/r/Atlhousing, craigslist, various FB groups, Atlanta Teams groups. Try to avoid big apartment complexes if you can, look for private rentals

Private rentals are awesome but tough to find

Microsoft trips@wrk Dec 20, 2021

Not necessarily. There are a lot of investment properties around

Marta is pretty trashy in Atl. Unfortunately atl does not do well in public transport arena. If u can get a car, u should and maybe look at areas in the nice side of Decatur since that has gotten a little more gentrified.

I do have a car, Google. Was just thinking of avoiding driving for office commute and taking train since don't have to worry about traffic and parking

Google tm26 Dec 19, 2021

Yea, Marta is also not convenient in regards to their stops. Like DC or NY trains get u within a block or two of where u r trying to go..Marta stops are so random and not well placed in general. But maybe ur lucky and ur bldg is placed near it...i just still wouldn't bother with bc Marta is so ghetto
