Atlassian

Got a phone screen with Atlassian. What are ya’lls thoughts on them? From what I can tell, they are a pretty cool company.

They have a nice company culture with great wlb. Compensation is ok, but not very competitive in Bay Area.

Who told we have great wlb? It the publicity we got initially but not true anymore

I can second that

How bad?

Definitely better than ebay for sure

I liked the team but passed on an offer from them because it was low.

Atlassian weed May 10, 2018

Good wlb, culture, benefits and competitive pay. Have a 24 hackathon every quarter + 1 week of infravation week where the whole team works on reducing tech debt and improvements or new features (upto the team). Besides, you have 20% time to work on your personal projects.

Atlassian kotlinin2 May 11, 2018

20% time is for personal projects relevant to Atlassian products though

Atlassian weed May 11, 2018

Correct...though in past i have used part of that time to learn new languages.

Just went through a round of interviews with them in Mountain View and saw nothing but good things. Fingers crossed but if I get an offer and the comp is reasonable I'm probably taking it.

Hi! Do you mind sharing your interview experience? I have an upcoming phone interview. Does Leetcode help? Any insights that might help me, tia

So the phone screen I had was a graph traversal problem, not a super hard Google like one but not really straightforward. They seemed to like some ambiguity in their questions, we spent a fair bit of time clarifying and agreeing on a definition before implementing it. Once I saw the algorithm the implementation was fairly straightforward, no backtracking needed. On site was 4 rounds, very similar to FB: 2 coding (one more algorithm heavy, one more implementation heavy, not clear on it it was intentional or if it was just those two interviewers), 1 design, 1 manager/values which is somewhat structured but not crazy like Amazon's leadership principal stuff. Algorithms problem was a tricky for me numeric one - well, getting it to O(n) was tricky, n² would have been easy - but implementing it once we found the O(n) solution was trivial. 2nd programming problem was trickier, but definitely not a hard algorithm one. A fair degree of ambiguity and requirements gathering to it. I didn't do much research in advance and luckily their values resonated a lot with some prior employers I liked but I definitely recommend reading up on the company history and values beforehand if you get the onsite as having given some thought about what you like there and how they would apply to work situations. Design question was Infrastructure-y and probably what most people would find hardest. Compared to similar questions I found it harder and actually thought I did badly but I guess I impressed them. Sorry to be a little vague!

How does the stock grant work at atlassian? Is the number of RSU'S for 4 years calculated on the date of joining or is it like Microsoft where number of RSU is calculated on the vesting date?
