Austin Texas

Considering a move to Austin. Mid 30s so not super concerned about the night life but obviously interested in the possibility of finding a female. Perhaps more important than my personal life is professional. I know Austin is a progressive place, just curious about the market for an all electric 0 emissions landscape and lawn care company. I'm in rural CO, where there's not a need for lawn care company, this past year I bought commercial electric mowers to partner with my brothers landscaping company up by Denver. He decided to pack up and move to help his inlaws. I'm left with 50k in electric equipment and nowhere to use it.

Austin is great. Save money by living in suburbs if nightlife isn't a deep desire. Buy a house, women find that sexy. As per an all electric lawn company, maybe? Not a customer of such a thing. Lots and lots of lawn companies.

Yeah I know all electric isn't something people think of, mainly due to not being aware it's even really possible yet. After operating them this summer I realized there's a shit ton of benefits for me and clients. Aside from the subtle benefits that I never thought of, I thought Austin might be environmentally motivated to consider the benefits to the environment.

Even though it's not really a selling point at the moment, I do think in the near future it will be an electrically driven industry.

Austin has lots of eye candy. I came here from SF Bay Area and regret having a fiancé. Jk

Total compensation for what role and seniority? I did an in-depth study last year. Austin at that time was the best place in the USA to work for putting money in the bank. Aka you make the most for the cost of living. It hasn't gotten worse. Just live in the outskirts and you can bank a lot.

Austin had super hot stripper girls :-)

This is pretty much a geek site. Most people here do not even know how to change a light bulb. All right that is a bit exaggerating. I would try city-data.com and post the question in Austin forum.

I know a bit about this market because I worked M&A deal in this space. Here’s some of what I know: The electric lawn equipment / 0 emissions movement is big in the more progressive cities (Northeast suburbs - NY, NE, MD, Northern VA, Tri-city area in NC, West Coast) basically wherever you think ‘progressives’. A good gage for this demand is to see where they have dealers / specialized displays set up (HD, Ace, Lowe’s etc). These companies have already done lots of research on where the best consumers are so take advantage of that research. If you want to move to Austin, and depending on your available capital, you need to figure out what model that will work for you and start from there. - Texas as everyone mentioned, you’re competing with really cheap labor. - you could call up a few of the existing small to mid-size landscaping companies (esp. that do commercial) and figure out a partnership arrangement so you hit the ground running. - start building your own client base and supplement it by working at a hardware / home improvement store because those are amazing places for leads. - work on getting 2-3 commercial contracts in the next 6 months and start to build out your company. Good luck!
