I'm French, and not authorized to work in the USA, I'll need the sponsorship. I applied to 4 internships at Microsoft and got automatically rejected after 10 minutes. Is there any questions that flags me? For example not returning to school after the internship? (This is precisely what I need, and I can't manage to find one in USA allowing this). Another question: can I check somewhere the state of an application at Facebook? Or I just have to assume no news = rejected Thanks,
Sounds like a trigger built into the software, maybe need for sponsorship at intern level is one of them.
Okay thanks
But I got rejected to one of them in Europe because of the warning and I did not needed the sponsorship for this one..
You are not eligible for internship if you are not returning to school for at least a semester after graduation.
But my internship is specially to end up my studies, so it means I will never be able to do a Microsoft internship (or other companies with similar policy)?
I guess you mean to find COOP, or internships which specifically says Work Term
Tryreaching out university recruiter on LinkedIn.
Most interns that I know are foreigners needing sponsorship, like you. They have strong presence at LinkedIn, strong body of work and committed code at GitHub. It is a competitive endeavor, here and in any company.
AFAIK, Returning back to school after an internship, is even more important for a person without work authorisation because that is kind of a way to show during your Visa interview that you have a legit reason to go back to your country. When interviewing for Visa of whatever kind, the ability to show that you have a legit strong reason to go back to your country once the Visa expires is a must have, or else, they cannot determine if you might stay back.
oh ok I understand. Thanks a lot :)
Also about Facebook, there’s no way you can check your status of application other than may be mailing the recruiter if possible. If you haven’t heard back, staying patient is the only option. All the best!
Which internships if you don’t mind me asking?
Engineering, data science for example
