Curious to see how much people in Denver/Colorado are making on average? Thinking of moving to the area from Midwest but salaries (for regular engineers) don’t seem much higher. However, cost of living is skyrocketing with houses being near half a milli!! tl;dr TC Role Yoe thanks! #colorado #denver #denvermetro #compensation #tc
I'd say that's about right. Housing is very expensive depending on where you want to be (near downtown or burbs). Make sense for FAANG company but for others you gonna need a lot more.
You should at least get a little bump. I’m from Colorado, now living in Missouri, and am also looking at jobs there. I’d be okay with a 10-20% bump, but I’m also making really good money for where I am.
Rent prices and cost of living has no match to salaries here. If you ignore some big names like FAANG, Uber, etc salaries range between 85-105 for mid level engineer. Avg rent in Boulder, Denver is 1600 for 1 br
All depends on field, title and yoe. IC software engineer range from 90k to 120k, senior engineer / manager from 100k to 150k. Dir/VP from 125k to 250k. There are also several startups in the Denver/ boulder area which offer Options
I’d say this is mostly accurate, with the exception of a few top tier companies, which can pay much higher.
My offer at msft for north CO: 135k/200k/55k + 10% target bonus ~210k TC avg over first 4 years HW (ASIC) engineer 2.5 YoE I got lucky because msft pays the same for Redmond as CO and they matched G/FB Bay area offers but for CO.
That’s a great offer, congrats! How was the interview process? Do you think it’s as rigorous as the west coast? 210 will have you living very comfortably for Northern CO.
Thanks! I think for myself it was a slightly easier interview because the team was smaller and very new. I had a colleague who interviewed for Redmond who is smarter than I am but he was leveled lower. But in general, for top tech, expect about the same. Maybe for more mid tier companies it might be less intense than west coast technical interviews.
I’d say average between 100-150, but then there’s companies like Amazon or Uber or Google, etc. that pay Seattle/Bay Area salaries or similar.
