Aws offer

I am expecting an offer from aws. The recruiter asked me what I was expecting but I said I want to hear from them first. Recruiter said that he will get back with numbers based on market research but that will be the final offer, no negotiations. Can folks pl share their experiences with aws recruiters?

Yep, he was so confident he was about to bust the biggest nut anyone had ever seen, but his overconfidence caused him to nut too early. No he’s frantically trying to get the girl to stay a bit longer and not rush home and tell her friends.

What’s the best way to respond to this while still opening up yourself to negotiation despite what they say.

The recruiter's only premise is that they would do 'market research' and come up with a number. They couldn't even be creative. Options could be: 1. Competitive offer 2. Based on 'your research' of pay in top tech companies. Cite some articles if pressed. 3. Your expected TC to make a jump

It’s always negotiable if you have a strong competitive offer and strong interview performance. My recruiter told me the same thing when the initial offer was Base 173K RSU 103 Unit 180K Sign-on 85K + 65K I just told them the offer is not even close to what Google is offering and it’s really difficult for me to choose them instead of Google even I really like the company and the team. 2 days later the recruiter came back with Base 174K RSU 130 Unit 240K Sign-on 116K + 85K ... I still choose Google tho.

Rule 1: don’t trust bs like “this is the best I can get for you”

Just ignore that comment and act like the recruiter never said that. When they come back, act mildly disappointed with whatever it is and tell them you’ll need some time to think about it. If you live in a region where it’s illegal to ask your current compensation, maybe bluff and gently hint that the offer isn’t really any better than what you’re currently making.
