Is one week notice good enough?

I planed to leave in Feb and only give one week notice.
Do you think it would burn the bridge?

Giving 2 weeks would be nice, but you might get fired right away and there might be No pay + Insurance cost for the "next" 2 weeks, which could be dangerous during this time...

chenquieh (thank you)

PS: I wanted to give 1 week notice after bonus deadline. And won't join the competitor

If you have so little trust in your org that they would screw you, then that's a bridge worth burning

I've heard of people being "let go" when they are leaving for a competitor. My understanding is that it's a no hard feelings things to do, just a reality that they don't want you near their info since you are leaving for a competitor

Oh, totally. Makes way more sense to do it that way, just saying I've heard that it doesn't always go down like that

Even if they are hell bent on protecting IP over doing LT, you arenโ€™t fired still, they just walk you out the door and take your stuff and access. But youโ€™ll still be paid for those two weeks and listed as quit not fired. You just donโ€™t do anything during your last two weeks.

Very unlikely youโ€™d be fired right away. Itโ€™s hard to fire people. If you are, you can get cobra coverage after your last day.

Insurance is covered till end of the month after termination.
Just donโ€™t announce resignation on Jan 31 if you are afraid that you will let go immediately.
