Hey guys, I got an SDE 1 offer a few days back(new grad) for the Azure Networking team at Redmond. During the interviews they told me that the team does SDN and things in the domain of distributed systems. I have 1.5 YoE in building data pipelines using hadoop and spark. Have a few questions: 1. I do not have any experience in networking. Will that be a problem? 2. Will this be a good early career move considering I want to be in the area of designing scalable systems? 3. Any thoughts about the host networking team, and the work culture? 4. How hard is it to switch teams in Azure internally? Thanks! edit: TC 120k + 130k stocks(over 4 years) + 50k sign on(over 2 years)
Switching internally is similar to external. Similar interview process
How soon can you do that without raising any eyebrows?
Internal movement process is by design discrete to motivate talent to stay with Microsoft.
1. No. I was a civil engineer before becoming a network engineer. You just need a brain and motivation to learn which Microsoft believe you have.
Hey, I got a recent offer from Azure SDN. Am I in the same place as you are where I have experience developing data pipelines with no experience of networking. Kindly help me with how did you proceed
@pmfp00 did you end up joining? If yes, How is the work in the team?
OP @dawn94 did you end up joining? If yes, How is the work in the team?
