Hey all, interviewing with a few Azure teams soon. One is a Storage team. I’ll be going for L62 offers. Please fact check my data: Average TC for L62 at MSFT new hire right now (with a competing offer, but not from FAANG): 135k base, 40k sign on, 75k RSU/4yrs. Is this accurate? Since Azure is so profitable, do they offer higher TC for new hires with another competing FAANG offer, compared to other orgs? I don’t want to be under the going market rate. PS I’m L5 eng at amzn, yoe 3, TC 210k
You can push the base closer to 150k. Helped someone at 62 (ux designer) get 155k at 62. Engineering typically has better joining and stock though.
Base 155 sounds great. That’s slightly higher than mine. TC for me is 210. I was hoping to match. How did it work for the designer to get such a good price?
Work on the base. Her tc was about 250. I guess she did well in the interviews, and they wanted her.
Tons of divisions are profitable at ms so no the offers wont necessarily be higher. Your competing offers, if you have them, will definitely affect the offer. 135 is low, but with your yoe it might be ok. Offers can get up to 145k base. Sign on is variable. For l62 I've seen any where from 20k-50k. RSU also highly variable. People without competing offer will sometime only get 25k. Good competing offers will garner maybe 150 or possibly even 200k.
I’m def making more than 135k base at amzn. Just not sure if they will compete with my current comp: TC 210k
Probably. I've seen offers using current comp as the "competing offer". Apparently other companies dont always do this but ms generally will. I could see you getting something like 145, 50, 150, 10% bonus target, in addition to refresher stocks.
I was given L62 with 135k base/75k stock over 4 years / 40k sign on back in May of this year with 1.5 yoe. Had no competing offers but very strong interview perf. I got the feeling I could push higher because it felt like they really wanted me. But I ultimately just declined because I did not like the team and did not want to move to Seattle
Thank you for the info!
Factor that Microsoft matches 401k in full. That and excellent health insurance without monthly premiums along with other benefits are worth 20k depending on whether you have family. From what I see, Microsoft employees tend to spend more than Amazon employees. Don’t know if it is just spending habit but I don’t feel like Amazonians make good money. Maybe frugality bakes into their life.
