Was told these are final offers for both. Both are in Seattle Area #engineering #software #swe
Just truncate the figures to thousands pls . 121100 == 121k Seeing so many 000s is weird
Wow, great Azure offer. Do you have any insight on the specific teams? I doubt it since it’s new grad but figured I’d ask anyway. Something to consider is that G will have much better refreshers, so that’ll start to make a difference if you plan on staying for a good chunk of time. If the teams are unknown, then I’d prob lean towards G tbh. Switching teams at MSFT is a pain in the ass and G will treat you better overall
OPs azure offer does not look like New Grad, it is L60. New grad is L59. Also new grad only gets year1 Signon in Azure
It’s with dev div paas + Serverless
Lmao wtf is that Microsoft offer. Did you intern with them multiple times? I’ve never seen the combination of 175k equity + 100k signing bonus for non-PhD new grads before.
Refreshers make the difference here, take google. And the free food 😃 Source: I have worked at both
Free food doesn’t matter when both MSFT and G will be WFH all of 2022. I’d lean towards choosing G anyway tho
Offices are open and serving free food if you choose to go in. Lots of people seem to go just for lunch 😂
Azure WLB is known to be bad. Google refresher will be 5x Microsoft's refresher. Although it's a very strong offer from Microsoft (never heard of 175k stock grant at your level), Google is one tier higher in all aspects.
Very bad on call is common in Azure. I’d say you can expect to get about as many off-hours pages in a year on call at Google as you get in a single week in Azure. Otherwise WLB is probably comparable.
Take Google. Refreshers would beat out Microsoft's offer in 1 year. You get paid for OnCall and many teams have SRE support.
Google promotion velocity is usually very bad. Microsoft can get you to 63 within 4 years, from where you can go to many companies as an l5
L3 to L4 isn't that hard. Get to L4 and jump to L5 elsewhere on 4 year cliff.
Would l60 have more responsibility than an L3 in Goog?
Not substantially but if you get promoted to 61 within a year, yes
Msft will be the highest potential, though you will have to leave in 4 years for tc unless you get many SSAs and fast promotion
What is the common promotion speed for L3 to L4 at goog?
1.5-3 years

I'd guess that refreshers will be quite a bit more generous at Google
