Is It Worth Leaving?

Mar 23 3 Comments

Currently working as an entry level Financial Analyst at WD in a new grad rotation program. To be totally transparent, I got shafted on the first rotation and am working in what is essentially a glorified Biz-Ops data entry role. I would love to leave and move to a role that fits my experiences and interests more (i.e. FP&A, modeling, etc.) but am worried that my limited experience in my first rotation will make it difficult to land any sort of FP&A role in tech. Is it worth leaving now or should I stick it out through the next rotation to hopefully gain more experience in a field that interests me?

For ambitious recent grads in finance, this is the time to go hard and get the bag. Recommend FMVA course thru CFI- easy to understand, super high return for the course cost, and it will cover modeling super in depth. If you didn’t know, first year analysts at bulge brackets can pull $100k base ez right now in private banking/IB

    • Is IB a possibility if I didn’t go to a target school? I’ve thought about that track before but am not sure if they care more about experience/knowledge vs. school prestige.

IB will be hard without prestige school, also most FAANGs do college recruitment and usually have rotational programs modeled after the Big 4 firms, so you wouldn’t be able to apply to entry level. Best bet is to build up your skills and experience (2-3 YOE) and go for experienced analyst roles.
