BCG Architecture vs Sr. Software Engineer career choice

I have 16 year experience. I love coding and I still code and perform architecture work as well in my current company. So far, I don't have offer from top technology company. Currently, I have 2 offers- One offer is from BCG with 180K base ( 20-40% bonus ) in architecture group. The role in BCG is not coding, but more into architecture solutioning, and presentation to senior execs at client side. The position is at senior leadership level within BCG. Advantage is - the role is pretty senior for my 16 year career journey. Also, BCG is good in CV. Disadvantage is - this involves travel and missing family moments. Also, this is not coding role and I have to code out of own interest in my spare time. Another offer is from low profile technology company for 170K base ( 8K bonus ) as senior software engineer. This role involves heavy coding. Also, if i keep working on this role, I can again try for FANG companies in 1 or 2 years stronger. But, the role is only senior software engineer. Long term, I aspire to join FANG... 1. Do you suggest me to take up senior software engineer in the low profile company or to take up BCG? 2. If I work in BCG for 2 years, will I still be able to apply to FANG? If yes, what roles will be available for BCG resources when they want to join FANG ? ( considering the position in BCG is not into coding..and I can only do coding out of own interest in spare time). Need your opinions.

Absolutely BCG. No doubts here! Edit: Question — Is this for Mountain View or San Francisco office?

If the senior software engineer offer is JUST 170k 8k bonus 178k TC then that is ridiculously low for 16yoe. Shoot for 200kTc+ for Boston area. I would wager you will get multiple offers in the 200-250TC range and maybe some offers in the 250-300 range. Some even pay 300-350 but that would likely require getting into FB. But something like uhh 225k TC should be a dime a dozen given your YOE I think you should keep interviewing and get a better coding offer. You can meet or exceed the bcg TC with a better coding job. If you go 2 years without coding at work your skills will rust badly and it might become hard to get into fang which is your long term goal.

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried to apply many coding jobs in fang companies and other startups - Unfortunately, i was not able to crack the interview so far. They just said I need bit more seasoning in coding. :(

Did you try Wayfair? Should be able to beat that TC with much better WLB.
