I have an offer from both for generalist consultant roles in the SF office. Can anyone help me compare the two options across their culture, career progression and opportunity to do tech strategy work? #consulting #bcg #bain #MBB
Worked at both. Definitely, Bain!
Compensation and career progression are nearly identical, the former being Bain’s weakness. Bain office is Salesforce Tower (considered the company’s most “technically advanced” office), BCG is in Bain’s old office still. EOD, you’re splitting hairs.
I think it’s a tough call: Bain is getting some awesome growth tech work by virtue of its partnership with tiger global. They’re also strong in PE. But they lack the support resources and scale of BCG. So in practice the entry level job is more in the weeds and I’m not sure their network is as strong. My sense was that Bain was frattier and BCG was more collaborative. I think I’d pick BCG myself but Bain has a lot going for it if you’re into tech or PE.
Career progression pretty much the same, I guess compensation it will be very close.
