I am interviewing at 4-5 companies including google / MSFT. The common question I get from hiring manager is why I am jumping ship so soon?

How should I respond to this question in a professional manner?

Personally, I am just giving interviews out of PIP fear to get out of Amazon. So far wlb and team is good.

If you only want to leave Amazon due to PIP fear, I would suggest you uninstall Blind and just concentrate on your team work (and chill) .

This response has worked for me. I would keep the discussion short. If they cannot understand you, it’s a red flag.

Most recruiters I’ve talked to, they start with stuff like “our company is not like amazon & we care about wlb”. I’ve been pitched their company, you know.

Or they understand when I say it’s just not a cultural fit. Just say that & immediately start talking about how their company is a better fit. Again, keep it short. They know that sometimes things don’t work out.

      What’s your yoe?

Don’t mention anything negative about work or team or tech stack or manager. You can always say it’s not a culture fit because that can’t be changed by switching teams

Eg: If I’m going from apple to meta I would say I like defining my own tasks and projects which I can at Meta and not at apple. If Im going from meta to apple I would say I don’t align with the leadership direction of metaverse and prefer to work in a company where the leadership aligns with my views. Or some bs like that. You get the point

I was in a similar boat, but soon got accustomed to my team. Turns out my manager is pretty good. Anyways gonna jump ship as soon as I complete 2 years for TC.

I do get it, even my team and manager is good. The only challenge is I am on visa with a huge house loan so I don’t want that risk where I can be put on pip so I am interviewing
