Ok here’s my offer: Currently a BLK VP 215k TC. Limited career progression in current org. Offered Director role at AMEX 205k base + 20% bonus + 10k signing + RSUs option if in top 40% of performers (generally around $22,500 in value). Can be mostly remote, as opposed to BLK where am required back 3 days a week. As a Director I would have a team of 3 direct reports, full scope of transformation responsibilities, definitely a step up from current role. Thoughts on package, leaving BLK for AMEX, etc??
Your WLB will improve massively. What department are you joining? Is this Finance? If so, your comp looks above market.
Not finance- technology.
Don’t expect any RSUs. What group in Amex?
Tech.
amex is highly encouraged 2 days in the office fwiw. also the “top 40%” metric is wildly inaccurate and is based on your business unit and based on company performance too. 20% bonus is variable based on how many seats are allocated for your business unit as well.
Thanks, how variable are we talking for the 20% bonus?
so the way amex performance ranking works are there are a number of seats allocated for “outstanding” and “high “ performers. a certain business unit may only have 2/3 seats for outstanding and 2/3 seats for high performers across the entire business unit depending on the size. it’s pretty wild and unfair if you are outperforming your colleagues but everyone is just at “meeting expectations” since there aren’t enough seats for anyone else
RSU is very hard, bonous is what pays good. Good package. Director is good role in amex ,it's kind of managerial with both technical and also people management
RSU can be a myth, but we can explain if you let us know the org and team you are joining
that’s a strong offer for a director - you’re not going to get much better at amex. depending on exp/performance you can get to vp within reasonable time frame, which comes with significantly more comp and equity is guaranteed. personally speaking, one of the few drawbacks of working at amex is the comp. so if you are happy with the offer i would say pull the trigger as it’s mostly a great place to work. of course, caveat that with your own personal goals/skill sets: i.e., if you’re looking to make 2mm a year then amex isn’t the place. for which org is this?
20% is based on both company and individual performance. 20% is minimum and can be higher
Location ?
Why not switch orgs in BLK?
Apparently 401k match vest 100% asap after 6months but im new here so unless other Amex ppl can say
That's right, heard that too
