Got an L7 IC offer from Amazon. What are the expectations for this level at Amazon?

How much time they give for ramp up etc. before they start evaluating the level performance?

Tip1: day one Insist on 1-1 with your manager and ask him/her whether he has made 6 months plan for you, if not ask what one thing is expected(feature, new product initiative) from you so that you can plan your day and weeks. easy to get overwhelmed if none of the above is planned for you!
tip2: scan as many design docs as possible( related to the immediate team you will be contributing) rt after/ during the Amazon(internal tools, systems)onboarding process.
tip3: there will always be 1-2 junior engineers who has worked in the team for 1.5+ years , aim to ONLY ask them of any questions you have( you are L7, there is no lack of intellect, just the time crunch to get a 360 degree view and a little deep dive into the tech stack) junior engineers(pick one) are hands on and would know tiny details and are very welcoming to white board. in the process you both will learn from each other.
Tip4: after 2-3 weeks folks will be expecting to express your opinion on the design of multiple projects in the team, tip 2 and 3 would help you here
Tip 5: Do not ask too many questions in the team meeting for first 2 weeks/u til you finish tip 2-4( being overwhelmed will sometimes force you to act stupid)
    tip5: socialize
how much time to evaluate: 2-3 weeks you should be able to start providing design reviews

Your run-of-the-mill recruiting team generally only focuses on L4-L6 candidates (SDE I-III). Typically L7-8 recruiting is done by a completely different set of people. Thereโ€™s no L9, and L10 is VP.

@op, yes thereโ€™s that too, but a lot of what youโ€™ll be doing is guiding the org on all aspects of vision, design, technical implementation, mentoring, setting the bar for development and operations

I have L7 interview soon. Can you share your interview experience? How much coding, design? Or mostly leadership principles?

After interviewing at Amazon earlier this year and getting an L6 offer, I was told they can go up to 700K at this level.

I wanted to give them guidance in order to get a strong offer as a help in negotiations with other company. Sadly, the number I needed was above 700K, this is how the recruiter shared this info.

Congrats on the L7. Usually L7 equals to at least L66 in MS.

I think GM or Director expects high from L7, u canโ€™t spend 4 months to ramp up. You need to build your value ASAP.

1st month ramp up tools and infra
2nd month work on refactoring and feedback
    3rd month new design proposal.
