Man you had a hell of experience. Your story with ford is very different from others.

Merit raises are based on performance. I got a raise of 5k this year, despite pandemic.. im a TP.

Dont worry. Make internal switch or external.

my last PM on my old team knew me for 5 months and hated my guts cuz I stood up to them on standups on calls that were just wrong about work loads. I was the dev with the most seniority on the team with 1 year under my belt (cuz everyone leaves so much lol) and the PM came onto my team late in the game as I was leaving on a different rotation. Left on bad footing for everyone involved. Hard to leave diplomatically on software teams that are constantly upgrading and you’re constantly working on upgrades till you leave. It wasn’t possible for me to finish all the “upgrades” my PM said we could do to her manager that I objected to. Then PR’s came around, and ya, I was the man jumping off the ship so I ofc was not the one to get the raise. Now I have a demotion of a job at practically the same pay. Feels fantastic.

Everyone I’ve seen that leaves my old team leaves on bad footing with the team. It’s a place where the leadership clings on to people who come into the org cuz nobody wants to work in the team and everyone is overworked. But now I’m on a different team at Ford that feels even more overworked for the pay offered. looking at what I’m gaining by staying seems at Ford feels minimal- the assignments I seem to get are the shit work ‘throw out the trash’ assignments that nobody else wants to do. And then, ya, those assignments aren’t known for getting raises. The skills I have: Python, graphic design, statistics, how to build+take apart computers, aren’t recognized or rewarded at Ford. Often, when I exercise them I get in trouble. Seems dumb to stay somewhere where I predominantly am criticized and seldomly rewarded. Alas, I’m just another cranky person on blind complaining about their employer. Water is wet.
