Better to interview and move out
e: I got the L+2 comp for doing well on the interviews and telling them that for an offer of $500k (the standard for staff), I would value it at $750k, which Google would definitely beat (didn't have FB interview yet). They raised it to $700k. From my experience, a VP would prefer to give out of band comp to fill a position than to lose the candidate.
