Sounds like peoplea are struggling over there right now...is this accurate? Can Blizzard employees confirm it's a bad time to apply for positions?
It's not the end of the world. I'm kind of hoping things will look up after a few years... but it really isn't that bad at the moment
The IT Dept I was going to join was basically gutted so def not in IT
Which team?
PMO, recruiter who left or was let go told me
I'd stay away from IT and Battlenet but for very different reasons. From my perspective all the press is kind of overblown. Things aren't awesome but the sky isn't falling either, and there's a lot more being worked on then they'll ever even hint at. Blizzard is not great at PR.
What's the problem with Battle.net? I have an upcoming screen with that team and would like to know what I'm getting into.
Basically what's happening is that growth has stagnated, there isn't a lot of super cool projects that are going to be game changing In the coming months ahead, and existing projects are questionable. What is also happening is a consolidation of entities. No more blizzard, or king, but Activision blizzard king (although king may he less affected). When consolidation happens, it means its cost cutting season. Which unless you're on core revenue driving teams, means shit times ahead
Game companies are terrible to work for
Its specific to departments. Game teams are fine. Everything else is shit
Not "everything else", no. There are a lot of teams that aren't IT, Esports, or Battlenet that are doing okay.
Seems like everyone is shitting on the battle.net team. What's the issue? I have an upcoming screen for a role on that team.
