What does Bain even do? Lol. Consulting? Is this realllllly that good of a company? Also those reviews look so fake Bain
Consultants at Bain walk into Harvard MBA like you write “Hello World!”.
So they have MBAs whoop dee doo
What do you have against people being happy to be at a company that is widely regarded as prestigious, high-paying, with good exit opportunities and has produced CEOs at places like eBay, YouTube, Dell, American Express, Expedia, and SurveyMonkey to say nothing of other notable alums like Mitt Romney and Steve Jurvetson who have made hundreds of millions of dollars as investors? I have no affiliation with Bain or any consulting firm, and there are certainly reasons to criticize management consultants, but denigrating another company you don’t really know anything about purely out of professional jealousy when it’s pretty objectively a good company is lame.
lol no u
Agreed OP seems quite bitter
Similar question: What do engineers do at Bain?
We do product engineering for large multinational corps who don’t have the ability to work at startup speed. The way I describe it is we basically go in, help figure the problem (business), identify the solution (software) and work with you to build the product from the ground up as if you were a VC funded startup shooting for the moon. We function like a startup that’s embedded in your company so we can quickly build, iterate, and innovate on the product. We typically get the product from POC to scale, then work with the client or a vendor to take the product over for LTS. Imagine taking top MBA’s, mixing them with highly skilled engineers and designers, and telling them go solve problems (business and engineering) at scale, that’s basically what they do. Tl;dr we use designers, engineers, product people, and MBA’s to basically help companies innovate at startup speed while also building good, scalable businsss models and products. Edit: To the original question, Bain truly is a fantastic place to work, I’ve never in my entire career worked at a place that is as highly collaborative and successful as Bain. It’s a high stress environment which management acknowledges, and works with you to provide as best of a W/L balance as possible. The reviews are real.
Companies lobby and pay to be in those lists, so take them with a grain of salt. Also, a place may be great for certain types of employees and bad for others. They are pretty silly lists, considering. If you're a Type A with an MBA you might love Bain. If you're an accountant or in IT, probably not.
Shutup
they come up with stupid shit like Net Promoter Score. hate NPS? you can thank Bain for that
MBB are pimps who pimp out MBA whores to incompetent managers of fortune500 who cant attract and keep grade A knowledge worker on their own.
Nothing more useless in this world than a management consultant
They are useful as political cover. " Bain recommended this highly unpopular direction so blame the consultants if this risky venture doesn't work out even though they were hired to represent my vision." Says the middle manager Also sometimes you need an outside help for secret projects.....BCG hiring Bain to work on layoffs or compensation leveling strategy
Lol classic dumb engineer
