I received an offer this morning from my recruiter. It's a long term 12-18 month contract but speaking with the hiring manager they are really eager to find someone that wants to convert and stick around for a while. The position is for an "Application Programmer 5" based in Charlotte NC. The initial offer was for $135k because of an initial number I threw out very early in our discussions, don't be like me. Long story, short: I'm trying to talk this up some because the level seems pretty high and they're wanting an immediate commitment. The team gave the strong impression I'll be groomed for a tech lead/manager position but only just now got the actual title I'll be coming in as. I can't find much on BoA levels or salaries so I'm hoping to get feedback from you guys. $150k is a decent salary for the area, I just don't want to feel like I'm being ripped off down the line. So BoA blind folks, how does this stack up? Current TC: 117k 9yoe #bankofamerica #tc #swe
I don't know about NC, but in NYC, on contract, it'll be 80 an hour (160k /yr ) if you negotiate really hard. Again, negotiation is the key. But in NC, I am not an expert.
I currently work there through one of the staffing agencies. I am level 4 with a 80 dollars and hour pay rate. My initial contract was contract to hire for 10 months but at the end of the 10 months they extended my contract to the Max 18 months total time with no conversion. The division I work for wants to reduce costs like most of Bank of America other divisions. If you Google the CEO saying we are doing more with less that’s what they mean. Also, they have this whole thing about a contractor not being there more than 18 months. If you hit the 18 months they end the contract and wait 3 months to bring you back as a contractor for another 18 months. I do have one team mate that threatened to leave on their second contract because he needed to pay his mortgage for those 3 months and did not want to deal with that again and the manager offered a full time. What I am trying to say is that you being hired after contract is not based on yours boss wants. But your bosses boss or higher. If this years bonus metrics are based on cost reduction, no conversion will happen. At least that was last year for GIS
Do you know what band level you will be?
No idea. Just have the title and a pay rate as I'm coming in under a temp-to-hire arrangement. Not sure there's pay bands in that situation.
