Hello, I got an offer for a full stack dev role at barclays. Current tc: 116.5 (base 114k) Offer: 125k base. No bonus component. I have an onsite with BlackRock coming up in 2 weeks. I am not that confident as I am rusty and started preparing recently. Pros for me with Barclays - my preferred tech stack (as in here at the bank I have been recently working on proprietary tech, and see less potential growth) - slightly better pay - had a better vibe than at my current workplace. Con - will add commute as now I simply walk yo work, so I'll either have to drive or move if I was to join I want to ask how is Barclays in terms of work culture, year end bonus, pay raise, etc. And how should I tell the recruiter to wait till I get done with BlackRock and what do i do if he refuses to wait. Really appreciate the help and the advice.
Time is money and for me so a longer commute is a big factor. I always tell people if you can code your own projects during or outside short work hours you'll be better off. Barclay's is a sweat shop like all sell side firms in the crunch. Blackrock maybe better.. Most firms won't wait more than a week. Unless they love you they will get a whiff you aren't into them and bail on you.. You can always accept then back out when the next offer comes. Not a big deal.
Improve your tech skills move into cloud ⛅️ lots of good paying jobs
What’s your year of experience? I have a sense of TC for BLK for entry level not sure about associate and up
@1oynx: I have 4yoe.
Is this an associate position you are applying? I echo with others that WLB is good.
It is an interview super day where they claim to be hiring for different positions. So, I think I'll find the level I am being considered for as (or if) I progress through the interviews on that day
PM me
Is this in New York City?
It is the Whippany, NJ campus
How long is the wait ? Black Rock is definitely a solid company I think Blackrock has Better wlb then Barcklays from what my friends told me.
I'll talk to them again tomorrow and ask them to wait for 2 weeks before I can confirm. I agree, BlackRock sounds good from what I've heard.
You can always ask 2-4 weeks to join as you have to finish up the transition of the older job role. After that it’s a personal reason.
