Bay Area 210k vs Atlanta 160k
Currently I am having TC 210k. I am having an offer from Atlanta with 160k. Is it worth moving ? What should be the equivalent pay in Atlanta for 210k BayArea?

How is it possible? You mean due to less cost of living? I can easily change my jobs in BA and get better pay, may be 300k. But in Atlanta I may not have such opportunities as there are no tech companies.
If you plan to earn some money and move back to Atlanta - that won’t be a bad strategy as well. Bay Area has opportunities and higher you move up in comp - more the competition as well :-)
Atlanta is a good place. $160k goes a long way there.
Is it saleforce or changing company? I used to work in ATL and now in bay area. Most companies in ATL have top down culture and move slow

pretty good though I’d discount the CoL calculators if you don’t spend much on consumable goods (eg you save a lot or travel a lot or buy online)

It’s a move within Salesforce. Asked my boss and he was positive. That 170k was my assumption based on my colleagues experiences. Usually it will be 10-15% pay cut.
Do you have a family? Are you gonna purchase a house? You should calculate with tax rates (Alabama might have lower state tax) but the Cali offer probably gives you like 20k more in take home pay which should cover the higher rent in California if you’re single.
Family. Don’t have plans of buying home right now. But may be in 1-2 years.

350k in bay area = 160k in atlanta... may be..
Wondering how one can do such calculations? Apart from less rent and house prices, what could be bring down the whole cost of living so much that makes it 350k in BA=160k in Atlanta? Care to share your thoughts??

We are DINK with roughly 350+k salary in bay area... i dun think i can afford similar house in bay area.... while comparing bay area against other parts of US one simply cant ignore housing/commute/quality of life in general
